Year 6 have been looking at the impact that rationing had on life and cooking during WW2. We weighed out a child’s weekly food allowance then, so as to ensure we did not waste our ingredients, we followed a war time carrot cake recipe. Carrot was often used as a sugar substitute in cooking as sugar was rationed.
