YR 6 Heart Dissection

This week, Year 6 children dissected a sheep heart as part of our learning about the human body, as sheep are mammals and therefore have a similar heart in size and structure to humans. Children learned about the different chambers to the heart, about the atria and ventricles of the heart and how blood flows through the heart and around the body in general. Children used tubing to identify the different entry and exit points to the heart and then dissected the heart to identify the different chambers and heart strings.
