This week, Year 2 became technology experts as they explored how Information Technology (IT) helps people in everyday life.

We then focused on how IT is used in shops. The children learned about:

• barcode scanners
• QR codes
• tills
• card readers
• self-checkout machines

We pretended to be in The Digital Den Mini Market! Children became “Shop Detectives” and used iPads to scan QR codes hidden around the building. Each QR code revealed the price of a different shop item. The children carefully recorded the prices on their worksheets and completed some challenges.
