We’re learning about all things Ancient Egypt in year 5 this half term! This week, we looked at Howard Carter’s discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb and how this helped us today.
Nobody believed Howard at first and they thought that everything in the Valley of the Kings had already been discovered. However, he persevered and discovered the steps to the intact tomb on 4th November 1922. Poor Howard had to wait weeks until his sponsor Lord Carnarvon to join him in Egypt before he could go in and discover all the thousands of treasures left there. He was very patient!
