YR 1 Computing

Today in computing, Year 1 have been learning all about algorithms.
We discovered that an algorithm is a set of step-by-step instructions that tells us how to do something.
The children were each given 5 LEGO bricks and asked to build their own small model. Using an iPad, they took a photograph of each step as they built their model – one photo for each LEGO brick. This helped them record their algorithm clearly.
Once finished, the children swapped their iPads and LEGO bricks with a partner. They then followed their friend’s picture instructions to rebuild the model. This showed them how important it is for instructions to be clear and in the correct order.
