Yr 3 Stop Motion Animation

Today children had a go at stop-motion animation.

Year 3 this term has been learning about animation.  Today children had a go at stop-motion animation (also called stop frame animation.)  Today's lesson was linked with Safer Internet Day.  Using an Ipad children were given the task of moving a character and making it say something helpful for staying safe online.

The character had to blink using a series of blinking frames, the character's arms could move, and the character had to say something.  Children took a photo of their character, moved it a little with the aid of the onion-skinning feature to help line up the elements, then took another photo.  Children then repeated these steps until their animation was complete.  When you play back the sequence of images rapidly, it creates the illusion of movement.

Here are some of their animations.
