Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back, we hope you all enjoyed the holiday and Eid if you celebrate.
A Day Of Welcome
We have been joining with other schools across the country today for 'A day of Welcome'. A day of Welcome is an annual day of solidarity and learning in schools that aims to build a culture of welcome and understanding for people seeking sanctuary.
We have been learning about stories of migration, especially those stories made by refugees. As a school of sanctuary, where so many languages are spoken by our children, we have been learning how to say 'hello and welcome' in all our different languages. We have been busy creating welcome displays for our families.
Refugee Week 15th -21st June
Next week, people around the world celebrate 'Refugee Week'. Refugee Week is the world’s largest arts & culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.
We would like to take part in Refugee week by making welcome hampers for asylum seeker or refugee families living in our community. Each class is going to put together a hamper of items.
We would be grateful if you could donate and send in with your child to their class food items (tins, packets etc, not fresh items) or toiletries so we can make these. These hampers will be taken to 'Shine' at St Stephen's church and given to families who need them.
At St Stephen's, we are so proud of how welcoming our children are to others and how supportive our families. We hope to create some fabulous hampers to share next week.

Best Wishes from all the staff at St Stephen's
